Blake Eves
Blake retired in 2016 after a career installing computer systems. Alongside his wife, he discovered their dream home in Magrath, a place where everything from the house to the neighborhood and the town itself felt perfect. Blake has always possessed an outgoing personality and a deep desire to bring out the best in others. He finds joy in making people happy and engaging them in pleasant conversations. Blake actively lends a helping hand by joining the seniors' group in Magrath, where he offers his handyman skills and computer expertise whenever they are needed. Recently, he took on a new role as a board member for "Healthy Aging," where he promotes the concept of seniors aging in place. Blake goes to great lengths to remember people's names and personal details despite his memory fading. During leisurely walks with his dog, he takes the opportunity to greet and chat with neighbors, allowing him to establish connections with most of the residents in Magrath. Blake takes care of his yard and assists his neighbors with theirs during the summer season to stay active.
Layne Barnett
Layne has been an integral part of the Magrath community since he was an infant. Growing up, he reveled in the privileges that Magrath had to offer, including participating in various sports, spending countless hours with friends, and building meaningful relationships with exemplary adults. After high school, Layne embarked on a short-term LDS mission in Tacoma, Washington. During this time, he met Meagan (Lambert), the love of his life. Layne pursued higher education at Lethbridge College and subsequently at the University of Lethbridge, where he earned his degree in Education. Thankfully, he swiftly obtained his dream job back in Magrath, where he now resides and raises his three children. Layne's passion lies in youth development, particularly through sports. He has successfully organized several basketball and baseball tournaments in Magrath, showcasing his commitment to fostering athletic growth. Much of Layne's free time is devoted to coaching at the high school and elementary levels in basketball, baseball, and football. Layne's unwavering love for Magrath and its residents is evident to all who know him. It's worth noting that the only children in elementary who may not appreciate Layne are the unfortunate Oiler fans!
